The view of Newport and the Licking River over the Ohio River from our seats at Great American Ballpark.
Diamonds are a girl’s best friend.
Our line-ups for the game.
Mom, Matt and Chrissie before heading into the ballpark.
On May 25, we had a fun time watching the Reds play the Houston Astros. The game started at a dry 1:10 pm. Across the Ohio and down the Licking River, we could see the rain slowly travelling in our direction. By 2:46 pm, with the score at 5-3 in favor of the Redlegs, a rain delay was called. We puttered around for over an hour, taking photos and trying to stay dry before finally giving up at 4:00 pm and heading back to Mom’s.
Chrissie, Matt and I then went up to visit Dad at the Baptist Home while Mom fixed dinner. While there, Roy called to let us know the game had resumed after a delay of two hours and five minutes, the score was 8-3 and the Reds had bases loaded. They didn’t score in that situation but did finally win over the ‘Stros with a score of 8-5. Aaron Harang was the winning pitcher, Wandy Rodriguez lost and we did see one of the Killer Bees (Lance Berkman) hit a home run. My favorite Red Joey Votto did not come in to pinch hit until we had left the park but I did get to see one of my all-time favorite catchers, Ivan Rodriguez play until he was injured in the early innings.
The best team mascot, Mr. Red the Baseball Head.
And last, but certainly not least, Pudge Rodriguez.
