Camp Washington Chili – Day Ten

Our fourth chili parlour on our Coney Crawl took us to Camp Washington Chili, restaurant Roy visited many times in his youth. This one I rated as the spiciest.

I chatted with the owner, John Johnson, who took over the family business in 1951 when he moved here from Greece. Nearly all of the Cincinnati chili parlours are owned by Greek immigrant families. Johnson’s birth name was Ioannis Ioannou. Thus, John Johnson when he obtained his citizenship. He graciously posed for a photo to see if Roy could still recognize him.
